Treatment for cocaine, crack and other stimulants

Stimulants include cocaine and crack, as well as prescription stimulants such as those prescribed for ADHD when they are taken in ways other than prescribed. They speed up the body and brain, and the lows that follow can be intense enough to drive repeated use.

Stimulant use disorder is a treatable health condition. Many people use in binges around weekends, work pressure or social settings, and do not see themselves as having a problem until the pattern becomes hard to break. Treatment helps you understand that pattern and build alternatives that last.

This page is for adults in Yuba City and across California who are concerned about cocaine or other stimulant use, and for the people who care about them.

Signs stimulant use may need attention

Noticing one or two of these is reason enough to ask questions.

  • You binge for hours or days and find it hard to stop once you start.
  • You feel low, irritable or exhausted after use and want more to feel normal.
  • You spend more money on cocaine or stimulants than you can afford.
  • You take prescription stimulants in higher doses, more often or without a prescription.
  • You have chest pain, a racing heart, nosebleeds or trouble sleeping.
  • Use is affecting your work, finances or relationships.
  • You have kept using even after promising yourself you would stop.

Levels of care at ARC

A clinical assessment guides which level of care fits. Programs are for adults 18 and older.

What stimulant treatment at ARC focuses on

Your plan is shaped by your assessment and goals. Sessions often focus on:

  • Mapping the situations that lead to binges, such as payday, weekends, alcohol or certain people.
  • Skills for handling cravings and the low mood that can follow stimulant use.
  • Setting up money, time and social plans that reduce exposure to use.
  • Alcohol or other substance use that often happens alongside stimulants.
  • Anxiety, depression or attention concerns that may be connected to use.
  • A relapse prevention plan you can keep using after treatment ends.

What to expect when you reach out

  1. Step 1: Reach out

Request a free, confidential assessment or call or text 530-625-7910, 24/7.

  2. Step 2: Talk with our team

We listen to what you have noticed, check your benefits and recommend a safe level of care.

  3. Step 3: Start your plan

You begin IOP, Evening IOP or PHP, or detox first through our partner when that is safer.

Tell us if you also drink or use other substances. That helps us recommend a safe starting level of care.

Stimulant safety: when to get help right away

Stimulants can strain the heart and body. Chest pain, trouble breathing, very high body temperature, seizures or severe agitation are medical emergencies.

Street drugs, including cocaine, may contain fentanyl, which can cause a fatal overdose. If you need more support than outpatient care can safely provide, we coordinate detox and residential care with our partner, Ona Treatment Center. ARC does not provide detox itself.
