PHP: more daily structure when you need more support

Sometimes weekly counseling or IOP is not enough support for what you are facing. ARC's Partial Hospitalization Program is our most structured program for adults 18 and older with substance use concerns. On program days, you spend much of the day in treatment and return home at night.

How PHP differs from IOP

PHP meets more days and more hours each week than IOP. It offers greater daily structure without residential accommodation. Ask about the current schedule and program format; do not choose based on the name alone.

Who may benefit from a PHP assessment?

PHP may be considered when you need more support than IOP or are stepping down from detox or residential treatment. A clinician assesses your needs and safety outside program hours. PHP does not replace emergency care or a setting where overnight monitoring is needed.

Treatment with practical goals

Discuss how substance use is affecting your health, responsibilities and relationships. Ask the team how the current program addresses your concerns, what participation involves and how progress is reviewed. The goal is an appropriate plan, not automatically the most intensive option.

Planning what comes next

As your needs change, IOP may be an appropriate next step. If detox or residential care is needed first, ARC coordinates with Ona Treatment Center, a separately licensed partner.

Understand coverage before starting

Network participation and coverage vary by plan. We verify your benefits before you start. Confirm coverage for PHP specifically, any referral or authorization requirements, and expected out-of-pocket costs. A benefits check is not a guarantee of payment.

What happens after you reach out

You do not need to choose a program before asking for help. Select “Not sure yet” if you would like to discuss your options.

  1. Request contact. Complete the Free, Confidential Assessment in the hero for yourself or someone you care about. Insurance information is optional.

  2. Talk about the next step. An ARC admissions team member can discuss your concerns, practical needs and questions about care. A clinical assessment is needed to determine an appropriate treatment recommendation.

  3. Clarify fit and coverage. Before treatment begins, confirm the recommended program, current schedule, availability and any insurance requirements or costs. If you need care ARC does not provide, discuss a more appropriate starting point.

This website form requests contact; it does not provide a diagnosis, guarantee admission or commit you to treatment. It is not an emergency service.
