What We Treat
Benzodiazepines are often first taken for anxiety, panic or sleep, and dependence can develop even when they were prescribed. If you feel stuck, there is a safe way forward. ARC offers outpatient treatment for adults 18+ in Yuba City or by live telehealth.

Benzodiazepines include medications such as alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), clonazepam (Klonopin) and diazepam (Valium). They can bring real relief in the short term. Over time, the body can adapt to them, and many people find they need more to feel the same effect or feel unwell when a dose wears off.
Needing help with benzodiazepines does not mean you did something wrong. Some people started with a prescription and slowly came to rely on it; others use pills obtained without one. Either way, the goal is the same: a medically safe plan and support for the anxiety, sleep or stress that the medication was helping you manage.
This page is for adults in Yuba City and across California who are concerned about their benzodiazepine use, and for family members who want to help.
If any of these sound familiar, a confidential conversation can help you find a safe next step.
A clinical assessment guides which level of care fits. Programs are for adults 18 and older.

Tell us what you take, how often and whether you also drink or use other substances. That helps decide whether medical detox should come before outpatient care.
Stopping benzodiazepines suddenly can be dangerous. Withdrawal can cause seizures and can be life-threatening. Do not stop or cut back on your own; talk with a medical provider about a supervised plan.
If you may need medical detox, we coordinate it with our partner, Ona Treatment Center. ARC does not provide detox itself. After detox, you can step down to outpatient care with ARC.
Taking benzodiazepines with alcohol or opioids raises the risk of overdose. If someone is very hard to wake, breathing slowly or having a seizure, call 911.

Yes. Dependence can develop even when a medication is prescribed. An assessment can help you understand your options, and any changes to your medication should happen with your prescriber or a medical provider.
It depends on what you take, how long you have taken it and your health. Medical detox often comes first, then outpatient care such as IOP or PHP. Your assessment guides the recommendation.
